Keck Medicine of USC

Keck Medicine of USC is the University of Southern California′s medical enterprise, one of only two university-based medical systems in greater Los Angeles. Its internationally renowned physicians care for patients, teach and conduct research at the Keck School of Medicine, the region′s first medical school.

Patients at Keck Medicine of USC receive highly individualized care and have access to their health information anytime through a secure electronic medical record. International patients can take advantage of our concierge services, which help patients and families coordinate housing and transportation, as well as provide assistance to complete immigration and customs medical documents.

The exceptional quality of care is demonstrated by these innovations:

  • Cardiovascular care: USC cardiothoracic surgeons are among the few in the United States who perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement, replacing a defective valve in a beating heart through a small opening in the leg.
  • Digestive health: One of 14 medical centers in the U.S. and Europe to test an innovative outpatient procedure to prevent acid reflux, USC is one of only 30 U.S. centers where it is now available.
  • Respiratory health: USC is among the first centers in the U.S. to offer bronchial thermoplasty, an outpatient treatment that provides long-lasting control of severe asthma.
  • Neurosurgery: Surgeons at USC were the first in the U.S. to treat uncontrolled epilepsy by implanting the world′s only responsive neurostimulation system approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
  • Ophthalmology: USC physician-scientists developed the world′s first implantable artificial retina that restores vision to the blind. They also treat the full spectrum of eye disease.
  • Otolaryngology: Surgeons at USC were the first to perform FDA-approved auditory brain-stem implant surgery on a child in the U.S. They also restore hearing through cochlear implants.
  • Radiation oncology: USC is the only center in Southern California to offer three cutting-edge radiation systems: Cyberknife®, Gamma Knife® and TrueBeam™ STX to precisely preserve healthy tissue during treatment.
  • Transplant services: USC is one of the few centers that perform adult-to-adult, live-donor transplants for liver and lung, achieving excellent outcomes as well for bone marrow, heart, kidney, liver and pancreas.
  • Urology: USC surgeons were among the first in California to perform minimally invasive robotic surgeries to treat prostate cancer and kidney disease. USC is a global training center for robotic urological surgery techniques.
