- Ophthalmology: USC physician-scientists developed the world′s first implantable artificial retina that restores vision to the blind. They also treat the full spectrum of eye disease.
- Otolaryngology: Surgeons at USC were the first to perform FDA-approved auditory brain-stem implant surgery on a child in the U.S. They also restore hearing through cochlear implants.
